Introduction

Password Expiration allows you to send notices to your users whenever their password is about to expire. You define how, when and what should be contained within this notice.

Password Expiration can be found by opening up your configurator and navigating to the Template Editor. If you have the module, Password Expiration should appear in the left-hand list.

Password Expiration

Testing after setup

Run PasswordExpiration.exe and check whether the users you're expecting shows up in the log file or not.

Technical Settings

If clicked on 'Manage...' you will be met with a dialogue box, allowing you to copy, edit, add or remove password expiration settings. The settings allow you to configure the following:

Description

A name to easily navigate who gets affected by this setting for example.

Mail Subject

This field allows you to set a subject name in the mail UMS sends to the users.

Mail Body

This dropdown box allows you to manage and choose the text sent out in the mail notice. The text editor is HTML and works just like Merge Letters.

SMS Body

This dropdown box is similar to the mail body, the thought behind it is if you want to have a different text sent out for mobilephones rather than a mail.

Password Expiration Intervals

This setting allows you to configure when your users will be given a notice about their password expiration. Enter how many days before expiration and whether UMS should send a text message.

AD Paths

Select OU's that should be affected by the setting.

Notice that this setting disregards what template your users are on and will send a notice, even without a Password Expiration setting configured.

Default Setting

If you'd like a default setting that affects all users in your domain, also the ones not created / managed by UMS, you can do so with the 'Default Setting'. If configured this will send out notices about Password Expiration to all users in your domain, if they have a mail address on their Active Directory object. However, for total oversight and control, it is recommended that you define your own parameters by setting up individual settings for each OU in your directory.
